Sally Balwin Balanix Solutions

I had a varied career before pursuing organisational development and human resource management.  Starting out working in the Law Courts I quickly realised a future in law was not my calling.  So I chose accountancy.  Working in Capital Markets for Queensland Treasury and studying part-time I found myself enjoying the business subjects more and engaging in human resource training available through work.  Four subjects shy of my Accountancy degree, I chose to change major to Management focusing on business and organisaitonal development subjects.  An opportunity also arose within Queensland Treasury for me to work in its organisational development area and so began my passion and career working with senior and middle management, as well as business owners, in establishing sound organisational and human resource management policies and practices.

During my career I have been fortunate to work on a diverse range of projects enabling me to establish extensive experience in directing, facilitating & project managing organisational development initiatives (including strategic & business planning, change management, leadership & management development, executive coaching, improvement evaluations & reviews, corporate & individual performance, team effectiveness, client service, corporate capability initiatives & organisational restructures) and developing and implementing strategic policies, systems, practices & procedures in relation to human resource management & workforce practices.

I am passionate about my work which saw me achieve the Director of Organisational Development Queensland Treasury and later Director, Corporate Development and Workforce Practices which was responsible for all human resource management functions as well as the organisational development functions.  In addition, I was engaged by the Queensland University of Technology to lecture and tutor in various subjects, including Recruitment & Selection, Management, People & Organisations, Organisational Behaviour and HR Issues & Strategies.

In 2006, with my business partner, we established Balanix Solutions which today provides taxation, accounting, bookkeeping and business consultancy services.

If this is not enough, in 2016, I took up the position of General Manager of Braille House (Queensland Braille Writing Association) a 123 year old not for profit that provides braille resources and tutoring to children and adults who are blind or have low vision.
